MINURCAT inaugurates a well in Iridimi village

On 10th July, a delegation of 15 senior MINURCAT and UN country team officials, headed by the Deputy Secial Representative of the UN secretary-General (DSRSG) Ms. Rima Salah, travelled to Iridimi village in Iriba to inaugurate a well funded by MINURCAT.

Opening the ceremony, the DSRSG said the well is a token of peace in the area, and thanked the host community for their hospitality to the refugees. The President of International Relief and Development (IRD) (the project implementing organization) handed over the well to MINURCAT which in turn handed it over to the local administrative authorities.

The well will benefit both the host communities and the refugees in the area. The population was represented at the ceremony by one of the traditional chiefs of Err Canton and the local Water ManagementCommittee composed of both local and refugee communities. The 13-metre deep well had cost 12c million CFA to dig and build over a period of three months.
