Iriba, 3 March 2010 - The Norwegian Well Drilling Unit of the United Nations Mission in the Central African and Chad (MINURCAT) has just built two wells to supply water to the town of Iriba. N’djamena 23 December 2009 – Some one hundred armed UFDR elements are currently deployed in the town of Sam Ouandja in the Haute Kotto district of the Central African Republic. Tensions in the area are running high following the grave road-cutting incidents of December 12-13 where three people were killed including two UFDR members. The Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Chad and the Central African Republic, Mr. Victor Angelo, travelled to Sam Ouandja on December 22nd, to assess the security situation and remind all parties of the humanitarian protection mandate for north-eastern CAR assigned to MINURCAT by the Security Council. << read more in PDF >>

N’Djamena, 20 December 2009 – A MINURCAT logistics convoy composed of three civilian vehicles was attacked this morning by four (4) plain clothed unidentified armed men along the road from Goz Beida to Koukou Angarana in southeastern Chad. The assailants commandeered one of the vehicles at gunpoint and fled the scene. A Détachement Intégré de Sécurité (DIS) escort accompanying the convoy pursued the bandits and recovered the

Koukou-Angarana, 14 November 2009 – A ceremony to reconcile communities of displaced persons took place on 14 November 2009 in the twin villages of Tiero and Marena located some 50 km east of Koukou-Angarana near the border between Chad and Sudan. The event is part of the intercommunity dialogue started in eastern Chad last May. Saturday’s symbolic ceremony sought to revitalize the reconciliation process amongst the different communities through newly created conflict management committees. << read more in PDF>>
