MINURCAT and Central African Government discuss future UN military presence in the CAR

N'Djamena, 23 January 2009 – A Central African government delegation led by Prime Minister Faustin Touadera met, in the country's capital Bangui, with Victor Angelo, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) to discuss the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 1861. The resolution calls for a United Nations peacekeeping force to succeed EUFOR, the European military presence, in the Vakaga district of northeastern CAR. The Government of the CAR expressed it appreciation for the continued international support to end instability in that part of the country. read more in PDF format
