N'Djamena, 16 April 2009 --- The remains of the Togolese soldier of the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT), Moussoukoum Essohanam KEZIE, were received on Tuesday 14 April at the international airport of Gnassingbé Eyadéma in Lomé by the Chief of Defense Staff of the Togolese Armed Forces (FAT), General Zakari Nandja.

The funeral took place on Wednesday 15 April in his hometown in the north of the country in accordance with traditional custom.

Corporal of the Forces d'Intervention rapide (FIR), the Togolese soldier was killed, on April 7, by a French légionnaire who had opened fire at Camp MINURCAT in Abeche, eastern Chad.

Colonel Ndiaye of MINURCAT accompanied the remains back to Lomé where he conveyed the condolences of the Organization to the bereaved family and the Togolese Nation.
